As a leader in delivering amateur and high performance sport to Calgarians, Repsol Sport Centre is proud to honour its athletes with a total of $16,250 this year, funded by The John Currie Amateur Sport Legacy Fund. Under careful deliberation and criteria examination, the LPSS Bursary Committee designated 18 amateur athletes to be recognized and financially rewarded for outstanding athletic achievement in support of their future training and competition goals. The honourees are a mix of Olympic hopefuls, veterans and up and comers, representing 8 sports. There are 5 men and 13 women ranging from 13 to 37 years. Further, 83% of the recipients train 19 hours a week or more, and proudly call Repsol Sport Centre their home.
STRATEGIC PLANNING
On the tail end of a tumultuous year, our leadership team forged forward to begin the initial steps to develop a new strategic plan. The Centre was looking to better align our vision, mission and goals to what we believed the future could hold. We specifically are looking to maximize our resources on endeavors that can potentially bring the most value to Calgarians, and our member and sport communities. We undertook preliminary research to understand industry trends and scenarios that could impact our Centre in the coming years and identified the ways to accomplish connecting with our stakeholders to help us build the plan. As we move into 2021 with hope and vigor, our leadership team and LPSS Board will be working with a Strategy Consultant to develop surveys to start to uncover the programming needs and wants and experiences desired from our stakeholder community while balancing that with trending fitness activities, facility innovations, potential future Olympic driven sporting activities and Legacy requirements.
